                  Marlow Library Trustees Minutes

                              April 20, 2026
Meeting called to order at 6:32 p.m. Attending: Linda Fuerderer, Jeanne Kennedy, Tina Fava, Marcia Levesque, Paulette Tuttle.
Secretary’s report: Motion made to accept minutes of March 16, 2026 by Tina, seconded by Marcia. All approved.
Treasurer’s report: The balance on the Mascoma CD is $6,308.05, with $17.09 interest earned and will be renewed for another 5 months with an interest rate of 2.470%. Tina was assured that this is the special rate. The maturity date is 07/18/26. The Perkins trust fund earned $68.27 ($72.77 - quarterly fees of $4.50) in interest leaving a balance of $27,167.87. Of that, $15.14 is in cash, money funds and bank deposits. The savings account has $413.67. The checking account has a balance of $1921.69. Bills paid were printer ink - $299.96, and $147.42 to Toadstool. We have spent $935.95 in technology and $349.35 in books and periodicals at this point. The programming budget has used $40.00 to purchase 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. It is unknown what available money is left in the budget until appropriations are received from the town in June. Jacqui has said that the town could give us $1900.00 of the $6,990.00 approved budget until the rest of the money becomes available. Motion made to accept the treasurer’s report by Jeanne, seconded by Marcia.
The debit card is all set for Paulette’s use. Linda will see the Trust Fund manager on Thursday to set up the C. B. Howard trust fund that was incorrectly still in our savings account. Although this is a small amount, we need to open the separate account until we decide what to spend the money on.
Librarian’s report: Paulette and Angela are very appreciative of the microwave that was donated by someone Marcia knows. They were
both hoping that we could keep the current winter hours the same and not change back to being open until 8 p.m. After some discussion, a motion was made by Marcia, seconded by Linda, to keep the hours as they currently are. All approved.
As part of the Nubanusitt Library Co-op, Paulette will be bringing a DVD bag on Saturday. She plans to display them with our current DVDs. They are loaned for a month, and then will be returned.
Paulette informed us that the State Library has a variety of large-print books to lend. Each group of books consists of 15-20 books of different genres. They would be rotated out every 2 months. It is a free service and would come on the van. The trustees unanimously voted yes for this proposal.
The Summer Reading theme is Plant a Seed: Read. Paulette applied for some free seeds and they came on Saturday. She is requesting small prizes or ice cream gift cards for the summer readers.
There were 5 people in our first book group in March. The book chosen was “Black Cake” by Charmaine Wilkerson. Paulette has hopes that the group will continue to grow.
Jen Brown reached out to Paulette today to let her know that yoga instructor John Wall would again like to offer classes in chair yoga and traditional yoga in June-July. The trustees all agreed that we would like him back. The donation bucket will be placed out, as no official charge for the classes will be made.
March stats: 68 adult patrons, 11 children, 5 reference questions, 72 items circulated, 46 ILL materials sent, 9 ILL materials received, 19 unique Libby users, 60 Libby checkouts, 6 books purchased in March.
Jeanne will do the necessary work to apply for a “250” Humanities program to be presented over the summer. “Redcoats and Rebels” has been booked for July 25th @ 1:00 p.m. Mary Adams is the presenter. This will be held in conjunction with Parks and Rec’s ice cream social @ 2:00 p.m.
Homework for next meeting: ideas for the summer reading program. The state library offers suggestions that we may be able to use.
Motion to adjourn meeting made by Tina, seconded by Marcia. Meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. Next meeting: May 18, 2026.
Respectfully submitted,
Jeanne Kennedy
